Ched Evans: ‘I was childish’

Footballer Ched Evans has told a jury he was juvenile and childish when he decided to check on a friend and “a bird” at a hotel room at 4am.
But the former Manchester City footballer has told a court he did not rape the teenager.
Evans, 27, is accused of having sex with the 19-year-old when she was too intoxicated to consent in North Wales in May 2011.
Cardiff Crown Court heard, following a night out with friends, the 13-cap Wales international arrived at a Premier Inn near Rhyl in the early hours of the morning after receiving a text from his friend Clayton McDonald that he had “got a bird”.
The striker said he then got a key-card from reception before opening the door to the room where he saw his footballing friend Mr McDonald and a woman naked together.
He told the jury: “I did not know for sure what was happening in the room …
