Engine Woes for Hamlin

Share: CONCORD, N.C. – Denny Hamlin led 52 laps in Sunday’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but lost an engine on Lap 308 of the 334 lap race and finished 30th. Hamlin’s engine went south while running in the top-five and trying to chase down eventual race winner Jimmie Johnson. “Just lost an engine there,” Hamlin said. “We hadn’t had one in a long time with TRD and Toyota. Tough break obviously Had a good car and we’ll have to go to Kansas and get a good run there.” The finish comes after a long streak of strong performances for Hamlin.
