France – NM1 Round 4: Union Rennes are upset by Angers BC

Demond Watt Round 4 means everything may happen in NM1 as the season just started. The most important game in the last round took place in Angers between third ranked Union Rennes (2-2) and sixteenth ranked Angers BC (1-3) on Friday night. Union Rennes was defeated by Angers BC in a tough game on the road 75-82. The hosts trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 50-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Union Rennes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Demond Watt (200-89, college: Texas A&M-CC) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Lithuania forward Rokas Uzas (202-88) chipped in 20 points and 7 assists. American forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Union Rennes’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Angers BC left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Union Rennes dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Angers BC is looking forward to face higher ranked Orchesien BC (#8) in Orchies in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Union Rennes will play at home against ALS Basket and is hoping to win this game. Vendee Challans can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat CFBB (0-4) 104-42.
