Liriano in concussion protocol after scary injury
- Updated: October 8, 2016
Blue Jays reliever Francisco Liriano is set to undergo concussion protocol tests on Saturday, according to MLB.com’s Gregor Chisholm. The tests will attempt to gauge the lefty’s status, after Liriano was hit in the head-and-neck area by a Carlos Gomez line drive during the eighth inning of Toronto’s 5-3 win on Friday in Game 2 of the American League Division Series in Texas.
Liriano was immediately removed from the game and walked off the field under his own power. He was taken to a hospital before being cleared to fly back to Toronto with the team.
