Gibbons optimistic Osuna will be available for Game 2
- Updated: October 7, 2016
ARLINGTON — Blue Jays manager John Gibbons remained cautiously optimistic that closer Roberto Osuna would be available for Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Friday afternoon.
Gibbons confirmed that Osuna was not available for Thursday’s Game 1, a 10-1 winfor the Blue Jays, because of right shoulder fatigue but the hope was that stance would change for Friday’s matinee affair. Toronto would not know for sure until either close to first pitch or when Osuna attempts to warm up during the game.
Osuna sustained a minor injury while pitching during the 10th inning of Toronto’s 5-2 victory over Baltimore in the AL Wild Card Game on Tuesday night. He appears to have avoided any kind of serious damage, but the right-hander is dealing with what the doctors simply described as fatigue.
