AlejandroAlba There were only 2 rounds played so far and it’s still very beginning of the Regular Season in EBA. There were many interesting games last round.The biggest surprise of round 2 in EBA took place in where host Valls Nutrion (1-0) beat Andorra II (0-1) 72-62 on Saturday evening. They outrebounded Andorra II 31-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. 30 personal fouls committed by Andorra II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was power forward Josep Miguel (204) who scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Alejandro Alba (193-77) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Victor Aguilar (185-98) produced 9 points and 7 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Andorra II will play next round against Cerdalyola trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Valls Nutrion will try to continue on its current victory against Sitges on the road. Barna defeated Sant Nicolau in Barcelona 68-63. Marc Rabaseda (-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Victor Pla contributed with 11 points for the winners. Forward Marc Sobrepera (201-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for Sant Nicolau. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sant Nicolau will play next round against strong Castellbisbal trying to get back on the winning streak. Barna will try to continue on its current victory against Arenys at Arenys del Mar. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gran Canaria B (1-1) on the court of La Roda on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by La Roda 75-69. Michel Diouf scored 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Joaquin Portugues responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Gran Canaria B’s coach Rafael Arocha rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. La Roda will meet at home Getafe (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gran Canaria B will play against Villarrobledo (#16) and hope to win that game. We should not miss the game where Mollet (1-0) against Pardinyes-L. (0-1) where Mollet won on the road by seven points 90-83. Toni Gomez notched 17 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort. Pardinyes-L.’s coach let to play eleven players, but that didn’t help to avoid defeat in this game. Mollet’s next round opponent will be Palma II (#3), which may be the game of the day. Pardinyes-L. will play against Sant Adria (#5) and hope to win that game. Important game to mention about took place in Palma. Palma II (1-0) saved a 1-point derby victory at home edging Castelldefels (0-1) 82-81 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was Carlos Poyatos who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Palma II will face Mollet in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Castelldefels will play against Barbera (#1) and hope to win that game. Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are: In Group B Estudiantes B lost to Real Madrid II in a road game 71-73. Getafe was beaten by Alcobendas at home 69-81. Villarrobledo lost to Rivas on the opponent’s court 70-76. Real Canoe outscored Casvi in a home game 82-63. Lanzarote lost to Azuqueca on the road 70-100. In Group C-A Menorca defeated Olivar on its own court 81-69. AEC Collblanc lost to Mataro in a road game 71-84. Martorell won against Cornella at home 85-79. JAC Sants lost to Salt on the opponent’s court 77-82. Castellbisbal managed to beat Santfeliuenc in a home game 81-67. In Group C-B winless Vive El Masnou lost to Barbera on the road 63-70. Igualada lost to Sant Adria on its own court 66-74. Quart destroyed Cerdalyola in a road game 82-61. In Group A-A Muro Basquet lost to Sitges at home 64-78. Group BReal Madrid II – Estudiantes B 73-71There was no surprise when Estudiantes B (0-2) was edged on the road by Real Madrid II (2-0) 73-71 on Wednesday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Real Madrid II shot 25 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Estudiantes B only scored six points from the stripe. Estudiantes B was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Javier Salson (199-82, college: Bloomfield, agency: Duran International) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. FYR Macedonia-Montenegrin forward Dino Radoncic (202-99) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Juan Llorente (180-93) produced 26 points and 4 assists and forward Alberto Maura (198-98) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Estudiantes B’s coach Javier Zamora tried various players’ combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn’t help to avoid defeat in this game. Real Madrid II will face Lanzarote (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Estudiantes B will play against Tenerife Naut. and hope to win that game. Power forward Luis de la Pena (200-94) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Alcobendas players scored in double figures.
