Michael van Gerwen cruised into the World Grand Prix quarter-finals with a 3-0 win against James Wilson on Wednesday.
The imperious world No 1 was never unduly troubled by the plucky Wilson – at one point he missed six doubles to start a leg, but still roared back to win it.
Wilson had started with a 156 check-out that got the crowd off their feet but that only served to anger Van Gerwen who roared through three sets to keep his bid for a third title alive.
Steve West’s run came to a grinding halt at the hands of Daryl Gurney, who dished out a ruthless 3-0 win.
