TorgrimSommerfeldt There were only 2 rounds played so far and it’s still very beginning of the Regular Season in BLNO. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gimle BBK (1-1) in Oslo on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Centrum (2-0) 98-90. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 38-18. But Gimle BBK won second period 29-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Centrum made 29-of-33 free shots (87.9 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Gimle BBK helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Torgrim Sommerfeldt (198-89, college: Manhattan) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Aksel Bolinz (201-90, college: N.Illinois) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. point guard Lars Espe (179-98) replied with 30 points and 6 assists for Gimle BBK. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Centrum is looking forward to face Nidaros Jets (#4) in Tromdheim in the next round. Gimle BBK will play at home against Asker Aliens and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident. Important game to mention about took place in Bekkestua. Baerum Basket (1-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging Asker Aliens (0-2) 87-84 on Sunday evening. Point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) scored 28 points to lead the charge for the winners and Eric Gilchrese chipped in 20 points and 7 assists during the contest. Baerum Basket’s coach Matthias Eckhoff allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. DR Congolese power forward Djo Yele (203-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Baerum Basket will play against Tromso (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Asker Aliens will play against Froya Basket in Laksevag to get more than just one victory in their record. The game in Oslo supposed to be also quite interesting. Kongsberg (2-0) played at the court of Persbraten (0-2). Kongsberg smashed Persbraten 78-50 on Sunday. Oivind Lundestad notched 29 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 16 points and 9 rebounds by Marius Puzaras did not help to save the game for Persbraten. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kongsberg will meet at home Ammerud Bskt (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Persbraten will have a break next round. The game in Oslo supposed to be also worth to mention about. Froya Basket (2-0) played at the court of Ammerud Bskt (0-2). Froya Basket smashed Ammerud Bskt 95-54. The best player for the winners was Ivan Emanuely who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Froya Basket’s coach Brent Hackman felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Froya Basket’s next round opponent will be Asker Aliens (#8) at home and are hoping to win another game. Ammerud Bskt will play against Kongsberg and hope to win that game.
