RostislavDragoun The Regular Season in 1Liga just started. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The biggest surprise of round 1 in 1Liga took place in Opava where host B&W Opava B (1-0) beat Havirov (0-1) 83-70 on Friday evening. B&W Opava B forced 20 Havirov turnovers. Power forward Jiri Dihel (198-87) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Rostislav Dragoun (190-96) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. Forward Adam Urbanek (196-93) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Havirov will play next round against strong Olomouc Bbal trying to make it back to the top of the standings. B&W Opava B will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Slavoj BK Litomerice defeated Sokol Pisek at home 75-68. Worth to mention a great performance of center Martin Klimes (203-83, college: Vermont) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Filip Kroutil contributed with 19 points for the winners. Guard Radek Vartecky (186-94) answered with 21 points for Sokol Pisek. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sokol Pisek will play next round against strong USK Praha B trying to get back on the winning streak. Slavoj BK Litomerice will try to continue on its current victory against Sokol Prazky at Praha. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Basket Kosice (0-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Sokol Hradec Kralove (1-0) 83-62. David Sirek stepped up and scored 16 points and 7 assists for the winners. At the losing side Jan Kratochvil responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sokol Hradec Kralove will meet at home BK Loko Plzen (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Basket Kosice will play against GBA Sparta in Praha and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Very important is a road loss of GBA Sparta (0-1) against USK Praha B (1-0) on Friday night. Visiting GBA Sparta was defeated by USK Praha B in Praha 66-49. Jan Streba nailed 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. USK Praha B’s next round opponent will be Sokol Pisek (#10) on the road and are hoping to win another game. GBA Sparta will play against Basket Kosice (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Very important is a home loss of BK Loko Plzen (0-1) against Vysocina (1-0) on Friday night. Host BK Loko Plzen was defeated by Vysocina in a tough game in Plzen 70-75. Jiri Bubak fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. BK Loko Plzen’s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Vysocina will face Nymburk B (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BK Loko Plzen will play against Sokol Hradec Kralove and hope to win that game. Other games of round 1 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. They outrebounded Sokol Pisek 46-31 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Slavoj BK Litomerice players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists.
