DejanBorovnjak The Regular Season in TBL just started. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Bandirma Kir. (0-1) on the court of Bursaspor on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Bursaspor 74-73. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 18-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Bursaspor made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Dejan Borovnjak (207-86, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Croatia guard Karlo Vragovic (192-89, agency: BeoExcell) contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Nigeria center Tonye Jekiri (213-94, college: Miami, FL) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for Bandirma Kir.Bursaspor is looking forward to face Afyon Bld in Afyonkarahisar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bandirma Kir. will play at home against Acibadem (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Very important is a road loss of Akhisar Bld (0-1) against Socar Petkim (1-0) on Saturday night. Visiting Akhisar Bld was defeated by Socar Petkim in a tough game in Petkim 78-83. American point guard T.J. Campbell (175-88, college: Portland) stepped up and scored 24 points and 4 assists for the winners and Polat Kaya chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Socar Petkim’s coach Burak Goren allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American point guard Leemire Goldwire (184-85, college: Charlotte, agency: HMS) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Socar Petkim will play against Mamak DSI (#6) in Ankara in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Akhisar Bld will play at home against Duzce Belediye (#13) to get more than just one victory in their record. Very important is a home loss of Acibadem (0-1) against Samsun (1-0) on Friday night. Host Acibadem was defeated by Samsun in Istanbul 88-77. Jerry Smith nailed 33 points (!!!) and 7 assists for the winning side. Bracey Wright came up with 20 points for Acibadem in the defeat. Acibadem’s coach Serhan Aydanarig rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Samsun will meet at home Muglaorman (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Acibadem will play against Bandirma Kir. (#12) in Balikesir and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Duzce Belediye (0-1) and Sakarya BSB (1-0), which took place in Duzce. Duzce Belediye lost at home to Sakarya BSB 55-59. Kerem Gonlum fired a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sakarya BSB’s next round opponent will be Eskisehir Basket (#3) in Edirne, which may be the game of the day. Duzce Belediye will play on the road against Akhisar Bld (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The game between Eskisehir Basket (1-0) and Final Genclik (0-1) in Edirne on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Eskisehir Basket beat guests from Bursa 90-74. It was a very good performance for Sean Marshall who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eskisehir Basket will face Sakarya BSB (#7) in Sakaraya in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Final Genclik will play at home against Yalova Bld and hope to win that game. Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Mamak DSI beat Turk Telekom on the road 104-98. Winless Yalova Bld lost to undefeated Istanbulspor on its own court 74-86. Gelisim managed to outperform Mugla Orman in Izmir 61-51. Winless Pertevniyal lost to undefeated Afyon at home 63-77.
