Burnley vs. Arsenal: Score and Reaction from 2016 Premier League Match
- Updated: October 2, 2016
Arsenal scored deep in injury time to beat Burnley 1-0 during Sunday’s Premier League action, with Laurent Koscielny the hero.
The hosts neutralised Arsenal in midfield throughout the first half, giving away few chances and threatening on several occasions. The pattern continued in the second half, but Koscielny gave his team the win with a late goal from a corner.
As Arsenal’s official Twitter account shared, Granit Xhaka got the start in midfield, while Alex Iwobi also made the starting XI:

Arsenal had a solid start to the match, and Iwobi got his first look on goal after just two minutes, firing a shot over the bar after a poor defensive clearance. Alexis Sanchez beat goalkeeper Tom Heaton shortly after, but his effort flew wide of the mark.
Burnley refused to sit back and be led to the slaughter, opting to play with the Gunners and take their chances. The tactic seemed to work early, as Arsenal weren’t as dominant in midfield as they have been the last few weeks.
Iwobi found Mesut Ozil with a nice reverse pass, but the German could only aim his shot into the waiting arms of Heaton. On the other side of the pitch, the hosts kept looking for Sam Vokes, who appeared to enjoy the physical battles with Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi.
A mistake from the latter gave Jeff Hendrick a shooting chance, although the midfielder perhaps should have played in one of his team-mates instead. Theo Walcott also tried his luck, putting his shot wide.
