Chelsea got back on track with a 2-0 win at Hull City on Saturday.

Blues boss Antonio Conte had asked for patience from his club’s supporters after their promising start stuttered in September with a draw at Swansea and defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal.

And, after a poor first-half performance, his side delivered in the second period at the KCOM Stadium, with Diego Costa playing a vital role. Here we look at the key talking points from Chelsea’s win…

Blues back to winning ways

After going three games without a win in the Premier League – including morale-damaging defeats to rivals Liverpool and Arsenal – Chelsea were in desperate need of a fillip on Saturday. A goalless first-half, in which the visitors failed to fire a single shot on target, wasn’t what they needed but Conte and his players deserve credit for the way they raised their level after the interval.

Some magic from Willian and an impressive finish from Costa put the game out of reach for the hosts, moved the Londoners up to sixth and delighted their boss.

“After two defeats, this win is very important for the table,” he said. “We are working really hard and after two defeats it’s not easy. You must work and find a resolution to change and improve. I think today we did a good performance with the right intensity and the right pressure. I like it when the team play it in this way, I like it so much.”
