O’Neill, Moore earn Mariners’ top Minor League honors

SEATTLE — Tyler O’Neill and Andrew Moore, two players who helped Double-A Jackson win the Southern League title this year, were named the Mariners’ Minor League hitter and pitcher of the year on Friday.
O’Neill, a 21-year-old Canadian, was the recipient of the newly named Ken Griffey Jr. Minor League Hitter of the Year award after batting .293 with 24 home runs and 102 RBIs in 130 games in his first season in Double-A.
Moore, a 22-year-old right-hander out of Oregon State, earned the Jamie Moyer Pitcher of the Year honor after splitting his season between Class A Bakersfield and Jackson. He was a combined 12-4 with a 2.65 ERA in 163 …
