Swansea City vs. Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp’s Key Pre-Match Press Conference Quotes
- Updated: September 29, 2016
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has encouraged defender Mamadou Sakho to show the right attitude as he seeks to regain his spot in the first-team at Anfield.
The centre-back has been marginalised after a tough time on Merseyside and is yet to appear for the senior team this season; Sakho was sent home from the club’s pre-season tour in the United States for “repeatedly breaking club rules,” per James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.
After the player was given a runout for the under-23s on Wednesday, Klopp was asked about the defender’s prospects at his weekly press-conference ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Swansea City.
“Work hard is the rule for every player,” he told the assembled media, per Rory Brigstock-Barron of the Daily Mirror. “I spoke to Mama and now we carry on.”
You sense Sakho still has a long way to go before he’s back in the starting XI on a regular basis for the Reds. Although he’s a popular player at Anfield with the fans, the 26-year-old has clearly left Klopp miffed with some of his conduct.
Nevertheless, the Frenchman stated on Twitter he was just pleased to get back on the field:
Happy to get back tonight with #LFCU23s
