DaveDudzinski There were only 2 rounds played so far and it’s still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga Nationala. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games.The most important game of round 2 took place in Bucuresti where Steaua CSM beat CSU Sibiu (1-1) 77-68 on Friday night. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-68. Steaua CSM looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American power forward Dave Dudzinski (206-92, college: Holy Cross, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 22 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. American guard Kevin Hardy (188-93, college: McNeese St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest. Oradea defeated Pitesti at home 81-73. Serbian-Bulgarian guard Branko Mirkovic (190-82, agency: 011 Sports) notched 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and Martin Zeno supported him with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds by American power forward Vincent Hunter (209-84, college: Arkansas) did not help to save the game for Pitesti. The best player for the winners was Mladen Jeremic who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Joe Thomasson produced 14 points and 7 assists for the hosts. BC Timisoara will meet at home Craiova (#7) in the next round. CS Dinamo Bucuresti will play against Pitesti and hope to win that game. A very interesting game took place in Galati. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Targu Mures (0-2) to Phoenix Galati (1-1) 80-78 on Friday evening. Milos Bojovic orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 assists. Targu Mures’ coach Barnabas Szaszgaspar rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Phoenix Galati’s next round opponent will be Olimpic (#10) in Baia Mare where they are favorite. Targu Mures will play at home against UBT Cluj Napoca and hope to win that game. Craiova (1-1) crushed at home Olimpic (0-2) by 22 points 87-65, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. Jamar Abrams had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Craiova will face BC Timisoara (#6) on the road in the next round. Olimpic will play against Phoenix Galati (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Dinamo B. – BC Timisoara 64-73CS Dinamo Bucuresti (0-1) recorded a loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by BC Timisoara (1-1) 73-64. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CS Dinamo Bucuresti won third quarter 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
