Zimbabwe overpower Egypt in friendly

Two beautifully taken first-half goals from Maud Mafuruse and Tonderayi Masango were enough for Zimbabwe to see off Egypt 2-1 in a game on Tuesday (20 September 2016) at the Rufaro Stadium in Harare.
The match served a preparatory test for both teams ahead of the impending Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for 19 November to 3 December 2016 in Cameroon.
The two teams are housed in Group A together with host Cameroon and South Africa whilst holders Nigeria, Ghana, Mali and Kenya complete Group B.
Egypt settled earlier than their host Zimbabwe, earning themselves a corner as early as the second minute.
After a nervy start, Zimbabwe usurped control of the game with some flowing passing football which broke the Egyptians’ rear-guard. Nobukhosi Ncube and Berita Kabwe provided the Mighty Warriors greatest goal threat, with the latter whipping in dangerous crosses, one of which resulted in the injury of the Egyptian goalkeeper, Maha El Demerdash early in the first half.
The homers dominance quickly turned into goals as Maud Mafuruse pounced on to a wonderful cross from Ncube for the opener.
