Michael Van Gerwen’s amazing form continued as he made it back-to-back Players Championship victories with a 6-3 win over James Wilson in Wednesday’s Barnsley Metrodome.
The dominant Dutchman chucked in a nine-darter en route to the final as he followed up Tuesday’s win and landed his 18th tournament of the year.
That tally matches the number of wins he recorded in 2015 and he has now won 48 of his last 50 matches, and five events in a row.
Having defeated Mike De Decker 6-2 and Alan Tabern 6-4, top seed Van Gerwen thrashed Jason Lovett 6-0 in round three, before a nine-dart finished helped him to a 6-2 win …
