Napoli’s ground-rule double clears 19-foot wall

CLEVELAND — Clearing the towering left-field wall at Progressive Field is hard enough for a hitter. Doing so on a fly ball that does not leave the outfield would seemingly be impossible.
With an assist from the stadium lights, Mike Napoli found a way on Friday night.
In the first inning of a critical clash with the Tigers for Cleveland, Napoli drilled a pitch from Detroit starter Michael Fulmer high into left field. As the baseball began dropping toward the 19-foot wall, Tigers left fielder Justin Upton put his arms out at his sides, motioning that he had lost sight of the deep fly.
