Ton-up for Crowley at Brighton

Jim Crowley passed the 100-winner mark in his bid to be champion jockey when taking the last two races at Brighton on Monday.
Crowley was out of luck in his first four rides, however a double saw him maintain the pressure on title-holder Silvestre de Sousa, who was in action at Wolverhampton’s evening meeting, but also rode two winners.
Upstaging (2/1 favourite), trained by Paul Cole, brought up Crowley’s century with victory in the Follow Us On Twitter At StarSports-Bet Handicap.
Crowley then completed a quick brace on Noble Act (3/1) in the starspreads.com Handicap for trainer Rae Guest.
De Sousa ended August as the odds-on favourite to defend his crown in the Stobart-sponsored battle, but with Crowley winning 19 races so far in September (at a 26% strike-rate) the momentum has shifted to the Sussex-based jockey.
Crowley’s agent Tony Hind said: “What he has achieved over the past few weeks is immense.
“He is riding on the crest of the wave at the moment. I always say success breeds success and that is exactly what he is doing and long may it continue.
“He is very level headed and has his feet firmly on the ground. If he has ridden three or four winners during the day he’s exactly the same as if he has ridden none.
