Blue Jays hold players-only meeting

TORONTO — Mired in a four-game losing streak and coming off Friday’s 13-3 loss against the Red Sox, the Blue Jays held a players-only meeting Saturday morning at Rogers Centre before the second game of a three-game series.

Toronto has dropped six of its past seven games to fall two games behind the Red Sox for the top spot in the American League East and hold just a one-game lead over the Orioles for the top AL Wild Card spot.

“I think they just wanted to talk some things out,” Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. “That’s usually typical when you struggle.”
