Huddersfield extended their lead at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table with a hard-fought 1-0 win away to local rivals Leeds United on Saturday.

Aaron Mooy, who was nominated for August’s Player of the Month award, continued his fine form with the only goal of the game, as David Wagner’s side stretched their unbeaten run to six matches at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, Fulham lost ground on Huddersfield after slipping to a 1-0 defeat at home to Birmingham.

Clayton Donaldson wasted an early chance to put the visitors ahead after missing a penalty inside the opening half an hour.

Fulham were then reduced to ten men after just 40 minutes when Michael Madl received a second yellow.

Donaldson atoned for his earlier error by calmly converting a second penalty after Charlee Adam was brought down inside the area.

QPR were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against bottom club Blackburn Rovers at Loftus Road.

The home side looked well on course to record their fourth win of the season when Tjaronn Chery fired in a superb free-kick from 30 yards on the hour mark.
