De Sousa hits Leicester treble

News of the action from Leicester where a treble for Silvestre de Sousa helped him close the gap in the title race.
Silvestre de Sousa hit back in the enthralling race to be champion jockey by firing in a hat-trick at Leicester.
The titleholder took his tally to 88, just two behind Jim Crowley, who drew a blank at Redcar.
Bookmakers took note with BetVictor cutting de Sousa to 6-4 from 11-4 to retain his crown and leaving Jim Crowley as the 1-2 favourite. Paddy Power eased Crowley to 4-9 from 7-2 and trimmed de Sousa to 13-8 from 9-4.
De Sousa showed he meant business when making all the running on the Conrad Allen-trained Hay Chewed in the EBF Stallions Prestwold Conditions Stakes.
It was pretty straight forward as the Brazilian rider took Hay Chewed (3-1) straight into the lead near the stands rail and kept on strongly to score by a length from Ornate.
