Orioles trade for Bourn, claim Stubbs

BALTIMORE — Orioles manager Buck Showalter had said Wednesday would be a busy one for the club in terms of transactions.
And he was right, as the O’s made two moves in the afternoon, and traded for outfielder Michael Bourn at night.
Bourn was acquired from the D-backs in exchange for Minor League outfielder Jason Heinrich. The O’s moved Joey Rickard to the 60-day disabled list to open a spot for Bourn on the 40-man roster. Bourn, who will add speed and defense, is batting .261/.307/.362 with 12 doubles, six triples, three homers and 13 stolen bases in 89 games.
In an odd sequence of events, the Orioles claimed outfielder Drew Stubbs off waivers from the Rangers to help their outfield defense. To clear a roster spot, they designated left-hander Kyle Lobstein, whom they acquired from the Pirates in exchange for lefty Zach Phillips earlier in the day.
