Gonzalez on track for rehab assignment

CHICAGO — Miguel Gonzalez is set to go on a Minor League rehab assignment after working through a simulated game Saturday. If all goes well in Gonzalez’s one start, the right-hander will rejoin the team after rosters expand on Sept. 1.
Gonzalez has been on the disabled list since Aug. 12 with a strained right groin.
“Everything’s good,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. “Next step is he is going to go out and see how that goes.”
Brett Lawrie remains in a holding pattern after returning from his rehab assignment last Tuesday. The White Sox second baseman has been on the disabled list since July 27 (retroactive to July 22) with a strained left hamstring but also had a follow-up MRI on his knee and calf that showed everything was structurally sound.
