Luis Santos Outworks Igor Svirid in One Championship ‘Titles and Titans’ Main Event

Put another Luis Santos win in the books. The American Top Team representative overcame a tepid start to capture a unanimous decision over Igor Svirid in the One Championship “Titles and Titans” headliner on Saturday at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia. Santos, 35, has pieced together a two-fight winning streak since his April 2015 matchup with Ben Askren resulted in a no-contest. He has not lost a fight in more than four years.After two forgettable rounds that saw referee Yuji Shimada issue three yellow cards for timidity, the two men made up for lost time. Santos (63-9-1) struck for a takedown inside the first minute of round three and tore into the Kazakhstani welterweight with elbows from the top, opening multiple cuts in the process. The Brazilian threatened with a rear-naked choke and achieved full mount at one point, but Svirid (10-3) found his way to his feet, bullied “Sapo” to the ground and put together a late surge of hammerfists and punches.
