PLAY campaign educates young Tigers fans

DETROIT — Around 100 kids took to the field at Comerica Park on Saturday morning, as the national PLAY (Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth) campaign made a stop in Detroit.
The PLAY campaign was formed to fight childhood obesity among American kids. Tigers head athletic trainer Kevin Rand, Tigers catcher James McCann, representatives from the Tigers’ training staff, the Taylor Hooton Foundation and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation hosted four stations in the Comerica Park outfield to educate kids on the importance of activity and healthy lifestyles.
The four stations covered the importance of physical conditioning and physical activity, nutrition and personal hygiene and the importance of staying drug-free.
