Chad Le Clos Pressed To 100 ‘Fly Win By Adam Barrett’s GB Record On World Cup Tour

Chad Le Clos, the South African who is the only man in history who can claim that Michael Phelps did not beat him in solo events at two Olympic Games, was a among a handful of Olympic medallists from Rio 2016 to make the podium today in Chartres as the first short-course round of a somewhat weary World Cup came to a close.
At 49.05 in the 100m butterfly, Le Clos showed fine form as he edged out Adam Barrett, on a British record of 49.31, well inside his previous standard of 50.05 from 2014. That was the season of Barrett’s breakthrough but after he struggled last year, the Loughborough swimmer missed the cut for the Olympic Games and Britain lost its 50.6 fly leg for the medley relay.
