Phegley suffers setback with right knee

ST. LOUIS — A’s catcher Josh Phegley has suffered a setback with his surgically-repaired right knee, precluding him from beginning a scheduled Minor League rehab assignment Saturday.
Phegley was expected to join Triple-A Nashville this weekend for a start at designated hitter, but his knee “blew up a little on him,” according to A’s manager Bob Melvin, and he’s dealing with swelling.
The A’s expect to know more in the coming days but will be cautious with Phegley, who underwent surgery July 5 to remove a cruciate ligament cyst from his right knee.
Phegley, who also missed two weeks in May because of discomfort in the same knee, has been limited to 26 games this season.
