Malaga left it late to pinch a point against RCD Espanyol, when striker Charles scored in the final minute to earn a 2-2 draw. His goal completed a spirited comeback from two down at Cornella – El Prat.
Earlier, Deportivo went top when they took a point after grinding out a 0-0 draw in Real Betis. It’s a welcome point for a side that could be on the verge of losing two key players.

It took Espanyol less than half-an-hour to go in front against Malaga. Gerard Moreno was the scorer after sweeping in a neat left-foot shot.
The Catalan club benefited from an excellent performance by the jet-heeled forward Leo Baptistao. He was leading the line well, consistently exploiting the spaces between the lines and looking to stretch the Malaga defence.
The home side were also winning the midfield battle, with their Pablo Piatti-led quartet bossing around Recio and Ignacio Camacho. Malaga needed to see more of the ball to let playmaker Juanpi do some damage.
Yet, it was Espanyol who struck again when Moreno doubled the lead. He moved sharply to meet Piatti’s whipped cross with a deft header.
