Twins promote former first-rounder Wimmers

Former first-round Draft pick Alex Wimmers has finally received his call to the Majors.
The Twins selected the contract of Wimmers from Triple-A Rochester on Friday, and he will join Minnesota for its series in Toronto.
Wimmers, who was the No. 21 pick in the 2010 Draft, replaces righty Jose Berrios, who was optioned following Thursday’s game. Left-hander and Canadian native Andrew Albers also was called up Friday to replace Tyler Duffy, who was optioned.
