Capitals Players Present $23,405 So Kids Can Donation to Horton’s Kids

ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals players Karl Alzner, Nicklas Backstrom and Braden Holtby along with Elliot Segal of the Elliot in the Morning Show recently presented a $23,405 check to Horton’s Kids, a community-based social change organization serving some of Washington’s most at-risk youth.
The funds were raised during the 2015-16 season through So Kids Can and will help support Horton’s Kids academic, youth development and health and basic needs services for children in grades K – 12. Each player and Segal donated $50 per Capitals win during the regular season and $100 per Capitals win during the playoffs.
In addition to the check presentation, Alzner, Backstrom, Holtby and Segal toured Horton’s Kids Community Resource Center in Southeast Washington, D.C., and spent time with children at the facility.
So Kids Can was created in 2008 by former Capitals defenseman Mike Green and Segal to benefit youth-focused, nonprofit organizations. Backstrom and former Caps forward Brooks Laich joined the cause in …
