Paxton comes off DL to start vs. White Sox

CHICAGO — The Mariners activated left-hander James Paxton off the 15-day disabled list to start Thursday night’s game against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field, and lefty Wade LeBlanc was designated for assignment to open a spot on the 25-man roster.
Paxton will start the 5:10 p.m. PT series opener against the White Sox after sitting out two weeks with a bruised left elbow. The 27-year-old had a 1.59 ERA over his last four starts before being hit with a line drive off the bat of the Angels’ Andrelton Simmons on Aug. 7.
