Josh Norman Comments on Roger Goodell, Redskins Nickname and More

Washington cornerback Josh Norman opened up on several topics to ESPN’s Kevin Van Valkenburg, including his thoughts on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, his new team’s controversial nickname and more.
He certainly didn’t hold back when talking about Goodell.
“He’s so cold,” Norman, 28, said of the commissioner. “There is no emotion or nothing…Horrible. He’s straight horrible.”
Other prominent figures didn’t escape the wrath of Norman, either.
“[The NFL] is a dictatorship, and [NFLPA director] DeMaurice [Smith] is in cahoots with those guys,” Norman added.
As for Washington’s nickname, the Redskins—a moniker that many consider a racial slur and is defined as “dated or offensive” by the Oxford Dictionary—Norman finds no fault.
“Redskins is not offensive to me,” he said. “I’m part Native American on both my mom’s and my dad’s side. It’s kind of a funny thing, though. A redskin playing for the Redskins.”
