Rangers agree to buy new affiliate in N.C.

ARLINGTON — The Rangers have agreed to purchase a Class A Advanced franchise in the Carolina League that will play in Kinston, N.C., beginning next season.
The Rangers’ franchise will join another new one in the Carolina League in 2017, as Kinston will host Minor League baseball for the first time since 2011. For the past two seasons, the Rangers’ Class A Advanced team has been High Desert in the California League.
The agreement to purchase the new franchise is still subject to the approval of Minor League Baseball and the review of Major League Baseball.
