Abbott bounces back with dominant start

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The only thing reigning Saturday afternoon at the 2016 National Pro Fastpitch Championship … was the rain.
The Chicago Bandits and Scrap Yard Dawgs started Game 2 of their best-of -three semifinal series in the morning at University of Alabama’s Rhoads Stadium, but by the time the sixth inning rolled around at 12:54 p.m. local time, so did the lighting, thunder and, of course, the rain. Lots of it.
The No. 2 seed Dawgs, trailing 1-0 in the best-of-three series, were leading 10-1 when the teams were called off the field. After more than eight hours of delays and updates, the game was called at 9:04 p.m CT because of unsafe field conditions.
The majority of the more than 2,000 in attendance left when the game was stopped and came back hours later when the gates re-opened, hoping to see more championship softball.
