— FOX Sports: UFC (@UFCONFOX) August 21, 2016 Cody Garbrandt once again handled his business like a serious contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight division. The rising Team Alpha Male star needed less than a minute to cut down World Extreme Cagefighting veteran Takeya Mizugaki with punches in the featured UFC 202 “Diaz vs. McGregor 2” prelim on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Mizugaki (21-10-2, 8-5 UFC) met his end just 48 seconds into round one. Garbrandt (10-0, 5-0 UFC) dropped the Japanese standout to his knees with a ringing right hand, blasted him with an uppercut, followed up with hammerfists and then drew the curtain with unanswered rights and lefts. The 25-year-old now boasts seven first-round finishes among his 10 pro victories. Phillips (5-4, 1-3 UFC) was competitive throughout the 15-minute match but yielded takedowns and surrendered position at inopportune times. Pennington executed a rear body lock takedown in the second round and consolidated it with ground-and-pound. In the third round, she delivered another takedown, moved to the back, set both hooks and later achieved full mount. Phillips escaped to top position, but with no finish in sight, the fight was essentially lost.Lobov Outclasses Overmatched Avila SBG Ireland’s Artem Lobov snapped a two-fight losing streak with a one-sided unanimous decision over World Series of Fighting alum Chris Avila in a …
