Rangers sign veteran outfielder Gomez

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rangers wrapped up a Minor League contract with veteran outfielder Carlos Gomez, who was released by the Astros this week, on Saturday.
Gomez will play at Triple-A Round Rock before being called up to the Rangers.
Gomez is a 10-year veteran, two-time All-Star and Gold Glove outfielder, but was hitting .210 with a .272 on-base percentage and a .322 slugging percentage. In 295 at-bats, the right-handed hitter had 16 doubles, five home runs and …
