Veteran striker Kevin Ellison scored the only goal to down Yeovil and send Morecambe to the top of the Sky Bet League Two table.
Ellison’s cool finish in the 55th minute was enough to earn Jim Bentley’s side a third win of the season.
Crawley are up to second after they came from behind to take a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Barnet.
In-form striker John Akinde fired the Bees into an early lead but Crawley hauled themselves level after 67 minutes when Joe McNerney headed in the rebound from a James Collins shot which came back off the crossbar.
There were first wins of the season for Portsmouth and Notts County against Colchester and Hartlepool respectively.
Two late goals from Gary Roberts secured a 2-0 victory for Pompey while the Magpies overcame an early goal from Toto Nsiala to win 2-1 with new signing Louis Laing and veteran striker Jon Stead scoring.
