Scots round-up: Hearts hit five

Don Cowie was a thorn in the side of his former club at Tynecastle as Hearts took all three points with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Inverness CT.

The Highlanders went into the match sitting at the foot of the Premiership and soon found themselves trailing when Cowie played a one-two with Conor Sammon and curled a shot into the bottom corner.

Hearts doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Tony Watt ran at the Inverness defence and laid the ball off to Cowie whose cross was headed home by Sammon.

In between the two goals, Sammon flicked the ball on for Watt to race clear on goal but his effort was saved by Owain Fon Williams.

Cowie struck his second goal of the day after Watt and Sammon combined to create the opportunity 90 seconds after the break.

Sam Nicholson then added the fourth with 11 minutes remaining, beating Williams with a low, crisp finish.
