Jonathan Hogg hit a stoppage-time winner against Barnsley to send Huddersfield top of the Sky Bet Championship and give David Wagner’s side their third win of the season. 

Chris Loewe curled a well-placed shot into the top corner to put Huddersfield ahead in the 27th minute but Alfie Mawson headed Barnsley level shortly after the break. 

However, Hogg kept his composure in the Barnsley penalty area to score first league goal since 2009 in the 92nd minute to claim a 2-1 win and put the Terriers top.

Brighton remain second in the table despite only managing a 2-2 draw away at Reading, who edged out of the relegation zone with a point.

Reading’s Joey van den Berg headed Anthony Knockaert’s corner past his own goalkeeper to cancel out John Swift’s opener for the home side.

Knockaert put the Seagulls ahead a minute into the second-half but the Royals’ captain Paul McShane scored his first goal for the club as Brighton were knocked off top spot – despite maintaining their unbeaten start to the season.

Kevin McDonald ensured Fulham continue to defy early-season expectations by securing a point late on against Cardiff, with the Cottagers fourth in the table after two wins and two draws.

Fulham’s 16-year-old left-back Ryan Sessegnon put the Cottagers ahead a minute before the break with the first senior goal of his career.
