Moyes: Priority is winning

Sunderland boss David Moyes insist positive results are priority as he builds a new squad at the Stadium of Light.

The former Everton and Manchester United manager embarked upon a long-term project when he replaced new England boss Sam Allardyce during the summer.

And Moyes is determined Sunderland will not become embroiled in as survival battle in the Premier League for the fifth successive season.

The Scot is looking to further strengthen his squad before the end of August, but he has just one aim ahead of Sunday’s derby match with Middlesbrough.

Moyes said: “As far as I’m concerned, the only thing I am interested in is winning, and it always has been.

“I hope to be able to do it in an entertaining fashion, but if I can’t, I’ll do it in an ugly fashion if I have to.
