Altuve gets 2 BTS contenders closer to prize

Two Beat the Streak players are emerging as serious contenders for the grand prize. Users “csteele12” and “jmd4221” both advanced their streaks to 42 and 41, respectively, by selecting Jose Altuve on Friday.
The Astros’ second baseman came through early, hitting his 35th double of the season in the second inning against the Orioles. Altuve has been a steady presence for many BTS players this season with hits in 95 of his 121 games.

“csteele12” is now 15 successful picks from claiming the $5.6 million grand prize. The game’s active leader is also just seven picks shy of matching Terry Sims, who set the all-time BTS record earlier this season.
In Beat the Streak, participants establish virtual “hitting streaks” by picking one or two big leaguers per day, with participants’ runs continuing as long as their selections collect at least one hit. To claim the lifetime’s worth of fame and fortune, a Streaker must top Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio’s magic hitting-streak total of 56, set in 1941, by one. In nearly 16 years of BTS play, nobody has “bested” Joe D.
