Blackmon a late scratch with contusion in toe

DENVER — Rockies leadoff man and center fielder Charlie Blackmon, owner of a 12-game hitting streak and the reigning National League Player of the Week, was a late scratch from Friday night’s game against the Cubs because of a contusion in his right big toe.
The Rockies made the announcement toward the end of a lengthy pregame rain delay.
Blackmon sustained the injury during his first at-bat of Tuesday’s 6-2 victory over the Nationals, when he collided with pitcher Gio Gonzalez, who was covering first on a ground ball. Blackmon went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs in that game, and 1-for-4 with a walk, an HBP and two runs in Wednesday’s 12-10 victory over Washington.
