Another Friday. Another week closer to hockey. Can’t help but love the idea that the ice will be back in the BB&T Center in just a few more weeks.
With that said, no ice doesn’t mean no hockey content. This was actually a pretty busy week for the Panthers – so let’s dive right in and see what went down.
SCEVIOUR READY TO ROCK
Colton Sceviour was seen by many as one of the top depth forwards on this year’s free agent market, so he was a natural fit for the Panthers. The Cats came calling, and now the 27-year-old forward has a two-year deal to his name.
So, what does he bring to the table? Quite a bit, really. He’s known as a two-way forward with a good work ethic and a heavy shot. But don’t just take our word for it, take his former (and now current) teammate’s word.
Reilly Smith played alongside Sceviour with the Texas Stars – Dallas’s AHL affiliate – back in the 2012-13 season, and he was singing Sceviour’s praises at a press conference earlier this summer.
“Colton is an all-around player who was definitely — if not the best — one of the best players on the Texas Stars. He could be put in any situation and succeed”
Smith went on to talk about Sceviour’s all-around abilities, saying that Sceviour’s goal-scoring abilities and strong defensive game will give him an opportunity to immediately thrive in Sunrise.
