Lampard v Gerrard in MLS

Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard face each other for the first time in their MLS careers when New York City host Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday.
It’s a star-studded contest with the likes of Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Ashley Cole also involved but it’s the rivalry between the two midfielders that could capture attention.
Not least because after a difficult first year in the United States, Lampard and Gerrard – 38 and 36 respectively – both come into the game in fine form.
Gerrard tops Galaxy’s assist charts with 11, while Lampard is impressing too having scored nine goals in his past 10 games – including a hat-trick last time out at Yankee Stadium.
