Chris Smalling returns from suspension to give Jose Mourinho a further boost ahead of Manchester United’s Friday Night Football clash with Southampton.
Mourinho is making his competitive Old Trafford bow, with an expectant United faithful wanting to see exciting football after a proactive summer in the transfer market.
Goals were few and far between under Louis van Gaal’s restrictive tactics last season, so fans are desperate to see United’s new arrivals transform the side.
Saints will be no pushovers, though, and have a great recent record at Old Trafford. A third 1-0 victory on the red half of Manchester would certainly spoil the party.
A solid, if uninspiring home draw at home to Watford got the Saints off the mark last weekend, but new boss Claude Puel knows that improvement is needed if they are to avoid defeat against a buoyant United.
