Weeks, Tomas lead D-backs’ rout of Mets

PHOENIX — Home-series wins have been a rarity this season for the struggling D-backs. On Wednesday night at Chase Field, however, they won their second home series in a row with a 13-5 victory, taking two out of three games against the Mets after sweeping them in New York last week.

Rickie Weeks Jr. and Yasmany Tomas each hit a pair of homers, combining for 11 RBIs in support of starting pitcher Zack Godley (4-2). The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits in 7 1/3 innings with two walks and four strikeouts. Arizona improved to 21-40 at home, winning just its sixth series at Chase Field this year.

The Mets lost ground in the race for the second National League Wild Card spot, falling to four games behind the Cardinals. They have a .500 record for the fourth time in seven games.
