Euro Olympics Boss Patrick Hickey Arrested In Rio Over Games Ticket Sale Allegations

Patrick Hickey, head of the European Olympic Committees and the man behind the troubled European Games, has been arrested here in Rio over alleged illegal sales of Games tickets.
Hickey, 71, is alleged to have passed on Olympic tickets for sale at extortionate prices, according to local news reports that have police saying that the Irishman attempted to escape to an adjoining room in his hotel when they were arresting him.
Hickey was taken to hospital after his arrest. The head of the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) was a constant presence at the side of Michelle Smith at Atlanta 1996 and among those vehemently defending the swimmer against allegations that she had achieved her result illicitly.
