Baird calls time on NI career

Northern Ireland defender Chris Baird has announced his retirement from international football.
The 34-year-old, who made his debut against Italy in 2003, won 79 caps for his country and helped them secure qualification for Euro 2016 – their first major competition since the 1986 World Cup.
Baird appeared in nine of the 10 qualification games that took Michael O’Neill’s side to France this summer and played his final match for Northern Ireland at the tournament, starting in the opening match against Poland in Nice.
“It was a tough decision because I have enjoyed every single minute that I have played for Northern Ireland,” the Derby County defender told the IAF’s official website.
