Del Potro gets US Open wild card

Juan Martin Del Potro has been handed a wild card at this year’s US Open after he won silver in the Olympic men’s singles tennis tournament.
Great Britain’s Laura Robson has also been given an invite into the qualifying tournament as she bids to play her way into the main ladies draw.
Del Potro missed two years’ worth of Grand Slam tournaments following a series of wrist operations before returning to that level at Wimbledon in June.
He reached the third round at the All-England Club, beating fourth seed Stanislas Wawrinka in four sets in his second match, before losing to Lucas Pouille.
